BIO:

Hi, my name is Finley. I am a 4-month-old smooth coat, chocolate & tan, dapple dachshund.  My foster mom says I have a lot of energy but if you play fetch with me (I’m pretty good at it) I get tired and I'm happy to take relax or take a nap until I’m up and ready to play again.  I also love cuddling and kisses.  After I burn off all that energy I’m happy snuggle up on you and fall asleep (especially if you rub my back or my belly).  I also love playing with toys and because I’m teething it’s really important that I have puppy stuff to chew on (my favorite is Himalayan Yak & bully sticks) so I don’t chew on my foster family’s stuff.  She says whoever adopts me will have to make sure they have time to help me burn off my energy and make sure I have stuff to chew on so I don’t become destructive.

I'm also happy to report that my foster mom says she's super proud of me because I've been trying really hard and only had a couple of potty accidents.  I’m also doing really good at going to the door to let my foster family know I need to go potty, however, I submissive pee but as I get older and more confident it should stop.  If you’re not familiar with submissive peeing please check out the link. https://pets.webmd.com/dogs/submissive-urination#1

I do need a family that will be able to continue my potty training and understands that I probably will need to go out every 4 hours until I’m older and fully trained.

I’m also happy to sleep in the crate at night (in your room) and sleep through the night without having to go out!  Otherwise, I’m still in training to calm down when crated but I’m doing pretty good at learning but it’s not my one of my favorite things.  If you know anyone who might love and has the time to give a sweet, inquisitive puppy dachshund (me) their forever home please get in touch with my foster mom......Finley

If you have any questions you can e-mail my foster mom at [email protected].

=============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI, NH, ME or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
